This is a genuine Lotus Cortina direct from the Team CJ Collection. A light restoration was performed on our Lotus Cortina about eight years ago and the car remains in exceptional condition to this day. A large file of receipts accompany the vehicle, dating all the way back to the original invoice when the car was purchased new from O’Connor Lincoln Mercury in Los Angeles, California.
During the course of the work carried out in 2014, the car was repainted and re-trimmed using correct specification materials obtained from England. Always a California car, our Lotus Cortina appears to retain most if not all of its original body panels. During reassembly, a full set of new rubber seals was installed and the car received a major mechanical service. More recently, the car has been thoroughly serviced in the Team CJ Workshops within the last 100 miles. All fluids have been changed, a new handbrake cable has been installed and the carbs have been tuned.
The engine was rebuilt many years ago by Crowther Racing Engines of Petaluma, California and has seen very few miles since. CRE apparently replaced the block at the time of the rebuild, using a heavier duty Lotus Twin Cam block, casting number 701M6015BA. These 701M blocks are considered the strongest of the various Lotus Twin cam castings, and it remains the block of choice for many of the well known Twin Can engine builders. Compression is excellent across all cylinders (185/190 psi) and the engine has great oil pressure and pulls like a train. The car is running and driving superbly and needs absolutely nothing before it can be enjoyed.
