This 2000 model year, left hand drive Lotus 340R is number 286 of 340 built. Only a handful of cars were ever imported to the United States when new. We believe our car was imported privately, some time later.
Our Lotus 340R features the desirable factory 190 HP kit, an optional oil cooler, throttle body injection, and is presented in its original livery of silver and metallic black with blue interior. The car weighs approximately 1,450lbs and has been driven a total of 3,300 miles from new.
In the early 2000’s, the car was owned by Isaac Jacobson of Mapleton, Utah. At the time 286/340 was not road legal, but Mr. Jacobson successfully registered and titled the car in 2007. During Mr. Jacobson’s ownership, in 2008, the car was loaned to Mario Andretti and Jerry Seinfeld for promotional purposes at the newly formed Monticello Racing Club in New York. Both Mario and Jerry apparently drove the car on track and absolutely loved it!
In 2009 Mr. Jacobson sold the car to a prominent Los Angeles lawyer who displayed it for the next several years on a rotating table in the lobby of his law offices! A couple of years later, having always regretted selling the car, Mr. Jacobson tried to buy it back, but the lawyer claimed it would be a major engineering feat involving cranes to extricate the car from its display, so a deal was never struck.
Fast forward about ten years, to July 2022, when the car switched coasts and ended up in the hands of a Florida car dealer. We bought the car from that dealer in February 2025.
Prior to us purchasing the car, extensive servicing was carried about by Supercar Mechanic of Deerfield Beach, Florida (2022). At about the same time, the seats and steering wheel pad were professionally retrimmed in blue suede by Dream Up Interiors of Pompano Beach. Once we received the car into inventory, we carried out a multi-point inspection resulting in the installation of a new brake master cylinder and a new fuel filler neck connecting and breather pipe. At the time of writing we are just about to perform an engine out service, to make sure the car is in tip top condition throughout.
