Team CJ is proud to offer this 1967 Ferrari 412P Tribute, chassis s/n 00768, built by renowned Ferrari expert Bob Norwood.
Ferrari’s response to Ford’s dominant 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans came in 1967, when Ferrari answered with a 1-2-3 finish of its own at the 24 Hours of Daytona. That race saw the 330 P4, 1st place s/n 846 and 2nd place s/n 856 and, in 3rd, the Luigi Chinetti founded NART (North American Racing Team) entered 412P s/n 844 sweep the podium, contributing to Ferrari’s win in the 1967 International Championship for Sports Prototypes.
Chassis s/n 00768 is the first 412P replica built by Bob Norwood in 1982 and remains the only example constructed with an all-Ferrari 12-cylinder chassis, brakes, suspension, engine, and transaxle. The car began life as a 1974 Ferrari 365 GT4/BB (s/n 18135) and was written off shortly after being registered in the UK. Purchased by American enthusiast Robert Thurman, the unfinished project was shipped to Texas in 1981, along with original new old stock P/3 body panels sourced from David Piper.
Norwood shortened the 365 BB frame to match the 412P’s 94.5 inch wheelbase and fabricated a lightweight fiberglass body using the Piper panels as bucks. The chassis was widened to accommodate the BB’s flat 12 engine, and lightweight aluminum belly pans protected new semi-monocoque fuel tanks.
Power comes from a carbureted 512 BB engine (#00768) mated to a 512 BB transaxle (#F102BB n 781). Rolling on 10×15 front and 13×15 rear Campagnolo wheels with Michelin TB5R tires, the car weighs just 1,588 lbs less than half the weight of a standard 512 BB delivering a stunning power-to-weight ratio, lightning quick steering, and exceptional braking performance.
Finished to race car standards, the paint shows minor wear and stress typical of fiberglass panels. Plexiglas, Carello rear lights, and functional headlights and signals suggest the possibility of street registration in many states. The interior is minimalist: black lay-down seats with Willans harnesses, upholstered sills, rubber mats, Momo Prototipo wheel, and a full instrument cluster (no speedometer).
This 412P Tribute captures the spirit and beauty of one of Ferrari’s most iconic endurance racers, delivering visceral performance and visual presence at a fraction of the cost of the original. A rare opportunity for collectors and drivers alike.
